Sports Pupil Premium 2017-18

With the continued funding received from the School Premium funding for PE and Sport, we aim to continue to enhance and improve our pupils PE and sports experience at Lena Gardens. We believe it is vital as the funding helps us to create a lasting legacy that benefits the children both in the short and long term. With children already enjoying 2 hours of PE per week, we have explored various options to enhance the pupils overall access to sport and physical activity at Lena Gardens.

This year we are aiming to build upon the recognition of our efforts in achieving the Silver Award (Sainsbury’s School Games) for the 2015/2016 academic year, as well as ongoing sporting success in 2016/17, to ensure the delivery of a broad and balanced curriculum and enhancing the sporting opportunities for all of our pupils.

Following the evaluation of the spending and impact of the Sports Premium funding for PE and Sport (2015-2016) we have outlined the following targets for 2017-2018:

  • Increase the number of pupils participating in competition.
  • Widen the variety of competition available to pupils.
  • To increase the provision of sports extra-curricular clubs.
  • To provide training to support staff in delivering PE.

An overview of spending (in line with 2016/17) throughout the current academic year can be found HERE.
