Governance at GGL Federation (Greenside, Griffin & Lena Gardens)
We are delighted that from 1st September Greenside, Griffin and Lena Gardens are now working in partnership as the newly created GGL Federation. This follows the conversion of Griffin to join The Elliot Foundation on 1st August this year. We will have one Local Governing Body (LGB) providing governance across the 3 Academies and a new structure is being set up.
If you have any questions please do not hesitate to contact me. Jem can be reached on: firstname.lastname@example.org Karen Bastick-Styles - Executive Head - GGL Federation - (Greenside, Griffin & Lena Gardens)
The Governing Body
Who can be a governor?
Governors are people like you. You may be a parent or simply a concerned citizen with an interest in education. If you feel that you have something to offer, get involved as a governor.
School governors reflect the whole community, including parents, teachers and other people working in schools, the local authority, local businesses, religious and community groups. All governors take an equal part in making and carrying out decisions.
What do governors do?
School governors make important decisions about how schools are run. Governors are responsible for the standards the school achieves and they set the school's aims and policies.
Governors control the finances and together with school staff, they are responsible for delivering a high quality education to all pupils in a school.
Though it's not paid, being a governor is a big responsibility and takes time, energy and commitment. But don't be put off because you are not an expert - there is plenty of training and support available.
